Can I Use GenAI as a Student at WUR?

This page is meant as an overview, for the full rules and the exact wording from the Examining Boards, see the chapter about Rules and Guidelines.

Whether, and how, you're allowed to use GenAI at WUR differs per course, assignment, and task, so your first point of reference should always be your course guide, your teacher, or your thesis supervisor. If they tell you that AI is not allowed, then it is not allowed at all. If AI use is permitted, there are still rules and guidelines in place that you'll need to follow. The diagram below gives you a first overview of the main steps to consider.

Even if AI use is allowed according to the scheme above, do consider carefully whether the tool you are using is secure, and whether you have permission to process personal, confidential or copyrighted data using AI. Being allowed to collect such data does not mean you are allowed to also process it with AI (even if a tool is secure).
